I’m not sure if you’ve listened to any of the files, but for my ears and what I use to play my books (speakers/headphones) HE-AAC v2 sounds almost as good to me as lc-aac at the standard audible 62k. There is some degradation, but it doesn’t sound like its coming from a tin can like the way that mp3 at 32k does (or that regular lc-aac at 32k does).
The other parts of the answer is that I like to try and long seed all of my torrents and storage space is limited on my seedbox. Also, with my listening habits, I’m in the middle of around three hundred books right now, so I like to be able to have lots of books on my player at a time, and storage space is even more limited there.
The high efficiency profiles for aac were designed to sound better/good at lower bitrates. Even at 64k audio book distributors should be using either HE-AAC v1 or HE-AAC v2 since they are better at that bitrate than lc-aac. Of course, lc-aac has broader hardware support and mp3 is even more universal. At the bitrates audiobooks usually come out at the best codec is opus, followed by the he-aac profiles.

Hey! I’ve been having an issue downloading this torrent. I use utorrent and whenever I load up this file it just says “Connecting to Peers…” and nothing happens. I’ve tried downloading another torrent (slackware) to test if it was an issue of my ISP or something, but I was able to download slackware perfectly fine.
Does this torrent need to be reseeded or something?
